About 7pm, a white Toyota Hilux travelling south on the Great Northern Highway and near Powell Road, collided with a white and yellow Kenworth road train travelling in the opposite direction. Both vehicles caught fire. The driver of the Hilux, a 48-year-old man from South Hedland received critical injuries in the crash and died at the scene.
